Waterberg
In contrast to the subtropical ecosystem of Mozambique, the diverse fauna & flora density of Tanzania, and the mopane ‘Jesse’ bush of Zimbabwe, our southwest African hunting concession blocks of Namibia (see Kaokoland, Khomas & Waterberg below) are generally drier, semi-arid sandveld of mainly acacia trees and scrub Mopane savanna.

KAOKOLAND

In the far northwest of Namibia is the wild region of Kaokoland and the Skeleton Coast, home to the semi-nomadic Himba tribe that reside in mud-and-dung huts.
This is remote and rugged – the region is known for its incredible mountain scenery, steppe-like plateaus, dry valleys and pastel shades at dawn and dusk.
We often work from authentic tented fly camps due to it’s inaccessibility , this hunting area is renowned for its semi-desert species such as Gemsbok (Oryx), Kudu, Springbok, Steenbok, Zebra (mountain), Klipspringer, Black-faced Impala amongst others...

KHOMAS

Our hunting in the Khomas region, within the Kalahari Western Extension, is a proper working bush camp in open savanna and umbrella acacia / thorn scrub farmland.
Located an hour away from Hosea Kutako (Windhoek) International Airport inside the Kalahari Desert Basin (northeast of Windhoek) is our tradition tented safari camp, hidden in a large, game accessible stock fenced farm.
Indigenous game species move seasonally throughout the Khomas region, with Gemsbok (Oryx), Greater Kudu, Red Hartebeest, Springbok, Warthog, Steinbok and Duiker hunted regularly under sustainable quota system during selected times of the season.
There is an option to use the lodge on the farm at times of the year when the climate better suits more familiar accommodation.

WATERBERG

As stated previously on the Buffalo page, The Waterberg Plateau is a superb buffalo hunting area, with the introduction of approximately 48 genetically prime buffalo between 1981 and 1991, which has led to the harvesting of some extremely large animals.
From the only luxury tented camp inside the Waterberg National Park boundary, we are able harvest Eland due to a healthy population, and with the successful reintroduction and breeding of Black and White Rhino in the National Park, this makes for some unique and exciting hunting!

Weather

Namibia can be visited throughout the year, as the climate is generally dry and pleasant, only receiving a fraction of the rain experienced by countries further east.

Between December and March, some days will be humid and rain may follow, often in localised, afternoon thunderstorms.

April-May temperatures range from 20°C at night to 40°C in the day.

From June to August, it can get cold at night and in the mornings on game drives but the days warm to around 25-30°C, and from the end of August to December rise to 20°C at night to 40°C by midday.
